Go 4th Weekends!

“Our mission field is not merely across the sea. It is across the street.” – Dr. Tony Evens

God tells us in His Word that we are to love and to serve. One way for the church to do those two things well is to get outside of our buildings and take the love, hope, joy and peace of Jesus into people’s lives as we help and serve them.

Serving others is what our monthly “Go 4th Weekends” are all about. On the fourth weekend (approximately) of each month we express God’s love for people in our community by serving them in a variety of ways.

Serving others is one of the ways that we worship the Lord, and a great way to share the Good News about Jesus Christ with our neighbors. Serving others is also one of the ways that we grow as disciples of Jesus. (Acts 20:35)

If you are looking for an opportunity to take the love of Jesus to people in our community, then join us on our next Go 4th weekend. Contact Pastor Murdock at 765-434-5841.

Here are some of our Go 4th activities… ALL GLORY TO GOD!

Window cleaning and weeding for the elderly. Painting porch spindles and railing for a family. Picking up trash at Studebaker Park and then hanging out and praying with people.

Cleaning up at Studebaker Park. Bringing groceries and baby items to an under-resourced family, then speaking with them about Jesus and praying with them. Praying with people who were visiting gravesites of loved ones at the cemetery. Sharing flowers and prayers with women and children at Open Arms shelter. Tornado cleanup and prayers with Maple Crest residents, sharing the hope that we have because of Jesus! Tornado cleanup and flowers for an elderly Maple Crest resident with terminal cancer. Providing donuts and drinks for the wonderful people of Carpenter’s House Church, then doing some deep cleaning around the inside of their building. Providing a worship service for the residents at Century Villa in Greentown. What an amazing blessing these beautiful people were to us! Helping with clean-up after the Favors Free Community Christmas Dinner (better late than never… LOL) Giving away 70 “blessing bags” with Gospel tracts at the Kokomo Rescue Mission, praying with many people, and sharing the Good News about Jesus. We made lots of new friends, and reconnected with some old friends too! It was a great day!

We gathered early to pray for revival for 47 church congregations in Kokomo, as they were gathering for worship on Sunday morning. We can hardly wait to see how God answers these prayers for our brothers and sisters (and us).

Street evangelism teams… praying for whoever God brought us to, and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ, as we participated in Revive Kokomo teams. So many amazing interactions! THANK YOU, LORD!

Knocking on doors and asking people how we can pray for them, sharing the Gospel of Jesus, and inviting them to come visit us.

Mending fences at Narrow Gate Horse Ranch, an inner city missions program in Kokomo serving young people and their families.

We hosted a one-day regional retreat for Ratio Christi, an apologetics ministry that shares the rationality of trusting in Jesus Christ with students and professors across the nation.

Tracts and Treats Halloween outreach.  Lots of fun with goofy costumes, hundreds of hot dogs and cups of hot chocolate given away, way too much candy, and about 300 Gospel tracts handed to kids and families.

Providing a fun outing for 29 people to see The Star movie.  A few laughs, a few tears, and a lot of popcorn!

New clothes, shoes, and toys for 11 children and their families for Christmas!

Popsicles and Prayers in the Park

Hosting a Neighborhood Cookout and Family Movie Night
